A New Treatment for Urinary Incontinence
What Is Urinary Incontinence?
Urinary incontinence, characterized by involuntary leakage of urine from the bladder, ranges from small amounts of urine dispelled with laughing or coughing to complete inability to control your bladder. There are two categories of urinary incontinence: stress incontinence and urge incontinence.
Stress incontinence is the leakage of urine in small doses as a result of increased abdominal pressure caused by sneezing, laughing, lifting or coughing. Stress incontinence, commonly observed as a consequence of damage to pelvic support structures that occur during childbirth or trauma, is due to a loss of support from the urethra. .
Urge incontinence, i.e. overactive bladder, is caused by uninhibited contractions of the bladder detrusor muscle. When contractions occur, the bladder leaks large amounts of urine, often suddenly, with insufficient time to get to a bathroom.
Both types of incontinence are medical conditions, yet embarrassed individuals frequently under report its’ presence. Years of needless suffering are the result of the most modest among us. It is not necessary to add “adult diapers” to your shopping list for the rest of your life. Platelet rich plasma treats both stress and urge incontinence.
How Does PRP Treat Urinary Incontinence?
Platelet injections trigger the release of eight different growth factors improving your functional potential. The O-Shot® effects are frequently noticed immediately as growth factors rejuvenate and enhance sexual response.
PRP, administered as the O-Shot®, successfully treats and in some circumstances reverses incontinence for thousands of women. PRP, sourced from your own blood, is injected into the space around the urethra (the tube from which the urine flows out of the body), triggering the release of eight different growth factors, activating unipotent stem cells located in vaginal and clitoral tissues, resulting in the regeneration and repair of damaged tissue.
Relief from urinary incontinence is noticed within one to two weeks following the O-Shot®. Improvement continues for several more weeks. Successful results include reduced or eliminated need for medications, and/or a complete resolution of the condition.
Why Seek Urinary Incontinence Treatment?
Urinary incontinence is a progressive problem that worsens over time unless treated. Urinary incontinence affects women of all ages, with the issue, and stigma attached to it, most prevalent among older women. A leaky bladder=an aging woman.
Up to 35 percent of women over the age of 60 have bladder control issues. Incontinent women outnumber incontinent men by a 2 to 1 margin.
Urinary incontinence contributes to decreased self-confidence, depression and a lower quality of life. The fear of embarrassing moments that you believe are beyond your control leads to avoiding activities and social settings including sexual activity and exercise.
A 2005 study published in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology of nearly 6000 women between ages 30 and 90 found women experiencing incontinence were three times as likely to be depressed as their dry sisters. Left untreated, multiple aspects of life seemed to spiral out of control. Combining PRP treatments with maintaining a healthy weight, routine physical activity and pelvic therapy is the key to resolving urinary incontinence. What are you waiting for?
